About this policy

This page explains what cookies and similar technologies Waterfalls.app uses on its public website. Waterfalls.app is operated as a sole undertaking by Jérôme Bestel.

The site is intentionally low on tracking. We do not use behavioural analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party marketing trackers on the public marketing pages.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They're widely used to make sites work, improve usability, and provide information to site owners. Similar technologies — like local storage or pixel tags — function similarly and are covered by this policy.

Cookies we use

The categories below cover everything currently set on the public website:

Strictly necessary

  • Cloudflare Turnstile. Forms (contact form, beta application) are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which may set short-lived cookies or use local storage to perform a privacy-preserving bot challenge. These are required for form submission to work.
  • Cloudflare hosting cookies. Cloudflare may set operational cookies (e.g. __cf_bm, cf_clearance) for security and bot mitigation as part of its standard CDN/hosting service. These are essential to operating the site.

Functional

The site does not currently set its own functional cookies on the public marketing pages. The application itself (available to private beta users) may set session cookies — those are described in the application's own privacy notice once you've been onboarded.

Analytics

The site does not currently run a third-party analytics tracker on its public pages. Standard server-side request logs (kept by Cloudflare for security and operational purposes) are described in the privacy policy.

Marketing / advertising

We do not use marketing cookies, ad-targeting pixels, retargeting trackers, or third-party social-media tracking on the public website.

Third-party scripts

The public site loads scripts from a small number of third parties:

  • Cloudflare Turnstile (challenges.cloudflare.com) — anti-bot protection for forms.
  • Cloudflare hosting — site delivery, CDN, security.
  • Webflow CDN runtime (d3e54v103j8qbb.cloudfront.net) — jQuery and IX2 runtime used for legacy interactions inherited from the previous site implementation. Subject to removal in future iterations.

Controlling cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or be alerted when sites set them. Disabling strictly-necessary cookies may break form submission or trigger our anti-bot protection.

The site does not currently display a cookie consent banner because we do not use any cookies that legally require opt-in consent under the ePrivacy Directive (the cookies set are strictly necessary or operational). If we add tracking that requires consent, this policy will be updated and a banner will be added.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our cookie usage changes. The "last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision.
